Dear Country Hills Public School families,

We want to inform you of a situation at our school this week.

Yesterday (Wednesday, May 24), at approximately 2:45 p.m., an individual was observed recording staff and students from behind the property fence. Staff captured a photograph and description of the individual, which was shared with the police. The individual returned to the area just before 3 p.m. today, and police were again engaged. Although the individual did not interact with any students on either occasion, we are taking every precaution to ensure the safety of our students.

Incidents like these serve as a reminder to review safety tips with young children. If students are ever approached by a stranger or notice someone acting suspiciously, they should immediately walk away and find a safe adult. Students should also be encouraged to walk to and from school with siblings or friends and never to approach strangers.

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We will continue working with Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) as they investigate the situation and thank them for their continuous support in keeping our school community safe.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school.

Sincerely,

Beth Creighton – Principal
