Good Afternoon Caregivers,

Your oldest student at Country Hills should have brought home a “Secret Mission Sensory” package this week; a booklet and pencil crayons. We invite you to find the time between Feb 1st and 9th to complete it as a family and contribute your ideas to our new sensory pathway. Packages are due to the school by Feb 10th; those returned after Feb 10th will unfortunately be too late.

INSTRUCTIONS:

The Mission:

Students and their families are invited to design a sensory pathway that will support all students of Country Hills Public School.

What is a sensory pathway?

A sensory pathway is a series of guided movements for kids to follow, shown by markings on the ground or walls. As students follow the path and complete the movements, they work off extra energy while developing their muscles and coordination.

How can families get involved?

Research sensory pathway ideas as a family.

Consider: What designs are visually appealing, easy for a range of children to understand, and help to work off excess energy and develop gross motor skills.

Working together as a family, draw a new sensory pathway for our school.

Use the provided pencil crayons to add colour and labels to most accurately represent your ideas.

Celebrate learning together as a family!

Return your design by the “Initial Mission Timeline,” below.

Initial Mission Timeline:

Should you wish to submit your design, we ask that families complete and return your sensory pathway design to your child’s homeroom teacher by Friday February 10, 2023.

Following the return of designs, students will review them all and come up with the final design.

Interested in getting involved even more with “Secret Mission Sensory?”

Our school’s plan is to install the new pathway early this year and we need lots of volunteers to make it happen! Please let us know if you are willing to help further by completing page four of the package!
